Italian Night!

ossobuccopicchickenparmspic

Join us tonight starting at 6:30 pm for authentic Italian cuisine and live entertainment. The main courses this evening will be your choice of either Milanese style Osso Buco or freshly made Chicken Parmesan.

This is the first Friday night dinner served in the Social Hall in many years and we think you will love the atmosphere. Our intrepid volunteers have worked non-stop preparing for the first of many dinners to be served in our main hall.

Here is Mike Handlin's description for the dinner:

It's a very special evening featuring an Italian dinner with live music and dancing. We have had our outstanding crew of volunteers hard at work for this event to be held in the big hall. We are offering a candlelight dinner - START with fresh bread and dipping oil ...then comes the Caprese salad ...Mamma Mia! ...then your choice of tender Chicken Parmesan on a bed of angel hair pasta...or...slow cooked Beef Osso Buco in red wine/carrots/celery and crushed Italian tomatoes...with a garlic mashed potato side...linger over your plate and order a glass of Chianti or Pino Grigio...and wait as we deliver your homemade Tiramisu dessert. The music will be from the by-gone but not forgotten days ...Sinatra / Martin / Davis...and the memories will be thick in the air. The cost ? $15 per dinner ..and TO GO orders are welcome...but please: stay a while if you can ... smell the fresh grated Reggiano cheese ... dip a piece of fresh baked bread in the olive oil w balsamic vinegar glaze ... perhaps add some fresh cracked pepper?

Social Hall Bar Reno Complete

The work to update the Social Hall bar wall is complete. Yesterday Stu and Bryan put in new insulation to the wall leading from the social hall to the kitchen, then put in new sheet rock and trim to join old to new (if you remember the new ice machine lines were moved to run along this wall to eliminate tripping hazards).

They also trimmed in the new bar opening to get it ready for re-upholstering-

Lastly wrapping it up--

Today Rhea and I finished it up by painting the hallway and the wall where we removed the old bar connection.

Korea Armistice

Kevin Thomas, Frank Rendon, Douglas Sanders and Mark Clark made a presentation last night in honor of the Korea Armistice agreement signed on July 27,1953. Handouts of the signature page were provided to vets and guests in attendance. Although there is a cease fire in effect, there are yearly incursions across the Korean DMZ. We asked all in attendance to remember our active duty military worldwide and Korea. Peace is fragile and only possible because of their service to our nation.
